Dynamic Design Solutions ("DDS") is an independent and privately owned developer of CAE software tools for a growing number of applications that exploit the combined use of experimental test data and finite element analysis data and for integrating and automating different CAE tools.  Dynamic Design Solutions is a technology leader in updating Finite Element (FE) models using static or dynamic reference test data.

FEMtools Products Overview

FEMtools is a multi-functional CAE software program providing analysis and scripting solutions for many different types of applications. The following five  FEMtools configurations are available targeting different types of applications:

FEMtools 3.1 Application Framework - This is the core platform containing tools for database management, interactive graphics, scripting language and API. Includes all available test data interfaces and level 2 and 3 FE interface programs. Element library and solvers for static and dynamic analysis can optionally be added.

FEMtools 3.1 Pretest Analysis - This is the FEMtools 3.1 Framework extended with tools for pretest analysis. FEA solvers can optionally be added.

FEMtools 3.1 SDM - This is the FEMtools 3.1 Framework (with FEA solvers) extended with tools for Structural Dynamics Modification.

FEMtools 3.1 Correlation Analysis – Includes FEMtools 3.1 Framework with FEA solvers, pretest analysis, structural dynamics modification, test-analysis correlation analysis and harmonic force identification.

FEMtools 3.1 Model Updating – Includes FEMtools 3.1 Correlation Analysis extended with sensitivity analysis, FE model updating, force identification  and probabilistic analysis.

FEMtools Framework can be complemented with the following add-ons for FEA integration:

  • NASTRAN Interface and Driver Add-On for FEMtools 3.1 – Imports and exports bulk data file, imports OP2 files, punch files and OUTPUT4 files.
  • ANSYS Interface and Driver Add-On for FEMtools 3.1 – Imports and exports CDB file, imports RST and EMAT files.
  • UNIVERSAL FILE (I-DEAS) Interface and Driver Add-On for FEMtools 3.1 – Imports and exports I-DEAS Universal Files.
  • ABAQUS Interface and Driver Add-On for FEMtools 3.1 – Imports and exports INP files, imports FIL files.

These are Level 1 interfaces. These interfaces are binary coded and provide the highest level of data exchange, performance and maintenance.

Level 2 interfaces are also binary coded and only provide limited data exchange. All level 2 interfaces are included in the basic FEMtools Framework license. Currently there are interfaces for MARC, COSMOS, and SYSTUS.

Level 3 interfaces are script-based and only provide limited data exchange. However, because they are script-based, they can be easily customized or extended to the user’s needs. All level 3 interfaces are included in the basic FEMtools Framework license. Currently there are interfaces for FEMAP, SAP and Algor.

The program is available in native versions on Windows OS and popular Unix OS platforms and integrates in an existing CAE environment through direct data interfaces.

FEMtools is used by FEA analysts, test engineers, application developers and integrators, engineering consultants, academic researchers, and R&D engineers. For each of these users profiles, FEMtools offers specific benefits.

You can evaluate FEMtools by requesting a trial license. Please call (+1) 714-441-3488 or sent us an email (webinfo@navcon.com).

Release Notes: FEMtools 3.0, FEMtools 3.1

FEMtools can be licensed on a stand-alone computer or using scalable floating license manager.
