SoundPLAN
Graphic
The SoundPLAN Graphic Module
dramatically change the way SoundPLAN results are graphically presented. The Graphic
Module allows an object oriented generation of maps with different types of results or
graphic information (i.e. digital site pictures, vertical and horizontal noise contour,
air pollution maps).
The attached Park_Noise.JPG file shows an
example map generated with the current SoundPLAN Wins Graphic Version 5.0. The input
data consists of 2 situation (Analysis, Prognosis) and the results from two grid noise
calculation (horizontal) and two cross sectional calculations (vertical).
The map is called Park_Noise. This project is a demo
amusement park. The main source entered in the acoustical model include a roller
coaster (line source - 3200 ft), two outside theaters (40 loudspeakers), loudspeakers
along a parade route (60), buildings within the park (13) and buildings in the residential
area (40).
The Park Noise Map comprises 5 smaller maps:
| 1)
Analysis w/o Noise Control |
Main sources are
a roller coaster, two theater audio systems and the loudspeaker along the parade route. |
| 2)
Prognosis w/ Noise Control |
Roller coaster emission was
reduced by 5 dB and the planner entered two 20 ft noise barriers. |
| 3)
Difference w/o vs. w/ Noise Control |
The 20 ft noise
barrier are mainly reducing the noise for a small shadow zone. The difference map
indicates that the noise levels did not change (white area) in those areas where the noise
contributions from the theaters are dominant (South-West). The elevated noise
sources (roller coaster) reduce the overall affect of the noise barriers. The upper
limit for noise reduction is therefore 5 dB. |
4)
Cross Sectional Map 1
(Prognosis w/ Noise Control) |
Location of the cross section -
see dashed red line in Prognosis MAP w/ Noise Control. The map show the elevated
noise sources, the reflection and the screening effect from buildings. |
5)
Cross Sectional Map 2
(Prognosis w/ Noise Control) |
Location of the cross section -
see dashed red line in Prognosis MAP w/ Noise Control. |
