Navcon is the USA and Canadian distributor of SoundPLAN.  SoundPLAN is an acoustic ray tracing program for noise propagation prediction written by the German acoustical consulting firm, Braunstein & Berndt GmbH (SoundPLAN International LLC). The software is an acoustical planning and modeling tool with a wide range of applications (Urban Planning, Environmental Assessment, Noise Analysis, Noise Control Optimization, Field Noise Mapping, OSHA / MSHA,....). SoundPLAN is a three dimensional graphics oriented program. It hosts a digitizer interface and produces color plots and tabulations of the input data and results. SoundPLAN also includes a wall / barrier design optimization utility and an industrial noise control module. Graphic displays help to visualize the benefit of noise control measures in terms of cost vs. noise level reduction.

SoundPLAN was introduced in the United States in 1992. It is an established program and has a long history of use throughout the world. Over 800 copies of SoundPLAN have been sold in Asia, Western Europe and North America and there are now more than 2750 users. Training courses are offered, which cover noise modeling theory, application and operation of the software. Technical support includes both a US and international "Hot Line".

SoundPLAN Essential

SoundPLAN-essential is a compact version of SoundPLAN.  SoundPLAN-essential is a single document application including all the basic information for noise control modeling and planning. It calculates noise from roads, railways or industrial noise sources.

INSUL

Navcon is the USA, Mexico and Canadian distributor of INSUL.  The INSUL software is developed by Marshall Day Acoustics, Auckland  - New Zealand.  The INSUL software predicts the sound insulation of walls, floors, ceilings and windows.  The software was developed based on simple theoretical models that only require easily obtainable construction information. The program can make reasonable estimates of the Transmission Loss (TL) and Weighted Sound Reduction Index (STC) for use in noise transfer calculations.

INSUL was introduced in the United States at the Internoise in Fort Lauderdale in 1999.   Navcon Engineering is the US, Mexico and Canada distributor of INSUL.  Training courses are offered, which cover the application and the operation of the software. Technical support includes a US "Hot Line".

ME'scope

Navcon has been a beta site and software reseller of the ME'scope since the mid 1990. The ME'scope software is developed by Vibrant Technology.  The ME'scope series of software products is designed to aid engineers and technicians working on vibration and acoustics troubleshooting, new product research and development, predictive maintenance, manufacturing quality control, and monitoring of critical machines and structures.

With ME'scope, looking at ODS's is as easy as moving a cursor through your measurements and observing an animated display of your data.  ME'scope can sweep through a set of time histories and animate the response of a structure, or show the structure's behavior while dwelling at a time, frequency or machine order.

ME'scope has been specifically designed to make it easy for you to observe and analyze a variety of vibration, acoustic, and strength of materials problems in machines and structures.  It utilizes multi-channel time or frequency domain experimental data, acquired during the operation of a machine, or the static or dynamic loading of a structure.

ME'scope is developed, maintained and supported by Vibrant Technology Inc.

Navcon Software Products

Navcon is now marketing some of the special purpose software used by our consulting engineers. The software runs under Agilent Instrument Basic or MATLAB.

AIMAP: Acoustic Intensity Mapping is a MATLAB based stand alone program for the 3 dimensional surface contour mapping of acoustic intensity and sound pressure data. Operating on Hewlett Packard SDF data, the program also calculates component sound power levels and features many graphical displays and calculation tools. [more Information]

OCT_ASC: Octave ASCII is a Agilent Technologies Instrument Basic program which runs within the 35670A and 35665A analyzers. OCT_ASC allows the test engineer to collect large amounts of SDF data and store it to a single ASCII file which can be opened in a spreadsheet, word processor, MATLAB, etc.

NRRO: Non-repetitive Run-out is a MATLAB based stand alone program for the identification of non-repetitive run-out in disk drive spindle motors. The program operates on Hewlett Packard SDF data computing / identifying NRRO frequencies and the statistical information associated with a typical lot testing.

SRS: Shock Response Spectra is a MATLAB based stand alone program for the calculation of shock response spectra from measured time histories using a time integration algorithm. The program reads SDF, ASCII and matfile formatted data, allows 1/3 octave, 1/6 octave and 1/12 octave calculations with user defined damping, and hosts many graphical displays and calculation tools.

Tonal: ISO7779 Tonal is a Agilent Technologies Instrument Basic program which runs within the 35670A and 35665A analyzers. Tonal allows the test engineer to identify discrete prominent tones in accordance with Annex D of ISO 7779, "Measurement of impulsive sound pressure levels and discrete tones at the operator position". The results of the tonal evaluation can be sent directly to a laser printer or stored to disk in an ASCII file. The disk files can be opened in a spreadsheet, word processor, MATLAB, etc.

HCAL (Hand-Help Calibration) is a Agilent Technologies Instrument Basic program.  HCAL customizes the 35670A for the purpose of performing hand-held calibration of accelerometers. [more Information]

RCAL (Ratio Calibration) is a Agilent Technologies Instrument Basic program.  RCAL customizes the 35670A for the purpose of performing ratio calibration for impact testing. The frequency response of an inertial mass is measured by mounting an accelerometer on one side of it and impacting on the other side. The calibration FRF can be used as a calibration curve or a single, averaged value can be determined for a given frequency range as a calibration value.  [more Information]

DCAL (Drop Calibration) is a Agilent Technologies Instrument Basic program.  DCAL customizes the 35670A for the purpose of performing drop calibration of accelerometers and force sensors. DCAL based on a predictable and repeatable motion, that a body in free-fall experiences under a constant gravitational acceleration. [more Information]

CHANREF (Channel Reference) program just puts point number and directions into the header of the SDF files.  [more Information]

RRIT (Roving Response Impact Testing) is a Agilent Technologies Instrument Basic program.  RRIT is a modal data acquisition method in which frequency response functions are measured between a fixed impactor and one or more roving response transducers. The basic procedure is that the test system is repeatedly impacted at an input position while the response transducers are roved about the measurement positions. RRIT is a single reference technique, but to collect multiple reference data with RRIT, the procedure is repeated for other input positions. Alternatively, the impacts could be made at all input positions before relocating the response transducers.  [more Information]

MRIT (Multiple Reference Impact Testing) is a Agilent Technologies Instrument Basic program.   MRIT does not imply impacting a test structure with more than one hammer. Instead, the outputs are taken as the references, rather than the input. MRIT is a modal data acquisition method in which frequency response functions (FRF) are measured between a single, roving impactor and multiple, fixed response transducers. Possible reference transducers are accelerometers, microphones, and proximity probes. A set of multiple reference FRFs is generated by applying the reciprocity relationships to determine the response at the impact locations. The set of measurements can then be treated as multiple input data and processed with multiple reference modal parameter estimation software. [more Information]
