Navcon Engineering conducted an acoustical site evaluation for a Power Plant. The emission levels for the main noise sources (i.e., inlet, generators, gearbox, turbine, exhaust stakes) were provided by the equipment manufactures. A 3 dimensional acoustical model was developed using topography data and DXF drawings. The noise levels were computed at the property line and over a calculation area. The results of the base scenario (i.e., basic noise control options recommended by manufacture) indicated that the target level could not be achieved at the property line. Based on the ranking of noise source a noise control plan was developed (i.e., inlet and exhaust silencers, enclosures). The graphics below shows the noise scenario with the additional noise control. The graphic presents the predicted noise levels in terms of noise contour lines and sound level charts at point receivers (i.e., see icon representing a sound level meter). 1) Noise Contour Map with Receiver Sound Level Charts :
