Navcon Engineering Vibration Control - Tuned Damper
In a recent project, Navcon &
Halvorsen engineers encountered a 18 Hz resonance problem in a Drive Motor System. Various
vibration control measures were investigated. Based upon the results of a sensitivity
analysis it was determined that the optimal solution would be the installation of a tuned
vibration damper. The following Graphs show the Frequency Response (Left) and the
Operating Vibration Spectra (Right) recorded both without (Red) and with (Blue) the
production Tuned Damper. The Drive Motor operates between 0 Hz. and 40 Hz. The vibration
response of the Drive Motor System at 18 Hz was reduces by a factor of four (4).
